What is Osteopathy ?

Osteopathy is a form of physical therapy and medicine that takes into account the complete health of a person when diagnosing and treating the patient.

So osteopaths don’t just look at the affected area causing symptoms, we look for the underlying cause. Then with you the patient we discuss a plan to treat the cause as well as the symptoms, combining all aspects of health not just the mechanical.

What do we treat?

  • Common aches and pains (such as back, neck, shoulders etc)

  • Injuries (whether sporting, lifestyle or occupational)

  • Postural analysis and correction

  • Muscular imbalance  (diagnosis and correction)

  • Improved performance and function

  • Cervicogenic headaches

  • Temporomandibular dysfunction

How do we treat?

  • By taking a full case history – symptomology, medical history, diagnostic testing (these parts combined allow us to create a picture of what is going on, so a diagnosis can be reached)

  • You would then be advised on how you can help improve your health and recovery.

What techniques do you use?

  • Soft tissue manipulation

  • Myofascial releasing techniques

  • Muscle energy techniques

  • Joint manipulation

  • Kinesiology taping

  • Medical acupuncture
